Police cane-charge TDP, YSRCP activists in Anantapur

Just an hour before the commencement of Jagan Reddy's meeting at Saptagiri circle in the city, YSRCP activists and TDP workers clashed with sticks and chappals when the latter tried to barge into the venue of Jagan's meeting. The activists attacked each other resulting in workers of both the parties sustaining injuries. Police intervened, resorted to lathi-charge and chased away workers of both the parties.

Earlier in the afternoon, TDP workers attacked YSRCP workers at Odduvari Palle near Kadiri when the latter were welcoming Jagan by raising slogans. Police swiftly stepped into the scene and chased away TDP workers. The trouble started with Jagan's controversial call on Thursday, asking people to attack the Chief Minister with slippers for betraying them with his false promises, which triggered in clashes the following day.

The last couple of days saw agitations and counter agitations by the two parties and the ruling party activists resorting to burning of effigies of the Opposition Leader. Undeterred, Jagan continued his tirade against the Chief Minister. But, swift and timely action by the police prevented major clashes between the rival parties.
