Visakhapatnam: Collector N Yuvaraj convened a high-level meeting with the representatives of World Bank Municipal Commissioner Praveen Kumar, APEPDCL Executive Director Ramesh Prasad here on Thursday.

It was decided that the proposed underground power cabling project work will be taken up in the city with the World Bank aid which will be monitored by the GVMC engineering wing.

Executive Director of APEPDCL, who is also project director, Ramesh Prasad said that the underground power cabling project work will be taken up in four phases under Andhra Pradesh Disaster Recovery Project and tenders for the first phase worth Rs 239 crore will be called on July 15.

He said the first phase of underground power cabling work will be taken up in the limits of six electric sub-stations covering MVP Colony Peda Waltair KGH area, Rani Chandramani Devi Hospital, Siripuram and Sivaji Park area.

Furthermore, Ramesh Prasad said that the first phase includes laying of 37 km-long 33 KV lines, 83 km-long 11 KV lines and 160 km-long Low Tension LT lines.

The cables will be laid in the pits to be dug with a metre dia and 18 months time will be given to the contractor from the date of entrusting work.

Senior Disaster Management Specialist Deepak Singh, Senior Environment Specialist Nehavyas, Operations Specialist Deepak Malik, Project Director Rajendra Prasad attended on behalf of the World Bank besides GVMC engineering officials Ananda Rao and Chandraiah.
