Taluka Rural Circle Inspector Nagaraj Yadav said about100 orphans were studying at Vasathi Gruham. He said since the cook has been arriving late for work a class IV student, S Sunitha, entered the kitchen and attempted to light a stove for cooking, and in the process sustained 20 per cent burns.  

Kurnool: An 11-year-old girl sustained burns while attempting to light a stove for cooking at Damodaram Sanjeevaiah Balikala Vasathi Gruham at Peddapadu under K Nagalapuram police limits on Thursday.

Taluka Rural Circle Inspector Nagaraj Yadav said about100 orphans were studying at Vasathi Gruham. He said since the cook has been arriving late for work a class IV student, S Sunitha, entered the kitchen and attempted to light a stove for cooking, and in the process sustained 20 per cent burns.

On knowing about the incident Peddapadu sarpanch rushed the girl in his vehicle to Kurnool General Hospital. The CI said the condition of girl is said to be out of danger and blamed the negligence of the cook and the supervisor for the incident. A case has been registered under sections 337 338 and 217 IPC
