The Collector advised the newly-selected CRPs to usher in social change while striving to introduce defecation-free villages, with a clear message that they will lead to prevention of diseases caused by open defection.
Kurnool: The Community Resource Persons should work with a missionary zeal to make villages open defecation-free, said Collector Ch Vijay Mohan here on Saturday. He was speaking after the selection of CRPs under the auspices of the Rural Water Supply (RWS) department.
The Collector advised the newly-selected CRPs to usher in social change while striving to introduce defecation-free villages, with a clear message that they will lead to prevention of diseases caused by open defection.
This they should propagate during visits to rural areas.
Vijay Mohan stressed that CRPs should strive for establishing defecation-free villages, as propagated by the Swachh Bharat programme. For achieving this awareness should be brought by involving the se
lf-help groups. He advised them to hold rallies in villages followed by gram sabhas to explain the damage caused by open defecation.
The Collector stated that each CRP would have to work for 15 days. Each would be paid Rs 300, meals charges and Rs 100 as honorarium
Steps would be taken to provide CRPs shelter and food facility. Each would be given an incentive of Rs 5,000 for ensuing construction of 100 latrines in a village, he said.
