Interestingly, the leaders in their virulent attack targeted the Leader of the Opposition YS Jaganmohan Reddy more than Mudrgada, holding him and his party responsible behind the Kapu stir led by Mudragada to disturb the TDP government.
Tirupati: In an apparent move to counter Kapu patriarch Mudragada Padmanabham who is continuing his fast despite pressures from the State government, the TDP leaders more so those belonging to the Balija similar to Kapu community in Chittoor district stepped up their offensive against him.
Interestingly, the leaders in their virulent attack targeted the Leader of the Opposition YS Jaganmohan Reddy more than Mudrgada, holding him and his party responsible behind the Kapu stir led by Mudragada to disturb the TDP government.
Speaking to the media here on Saturday, TDP senior leader and MLC G Muddukrishnama Naidu sought Mudragada not to fall a prey to the poisonous snake, comparing opposition leader Jaganmohan Reddy to a cold blooded venomous reptile.
Reminding that it was during the regime of Sanjeeva Reddy and Brahmananda Reddy when the Kapus were removed from the BC list, he said that the TDP is making a determined bid to help the Kapus to get their BC status back legally.
“Even YS Rajasekhara Reddy who had included so many castes in the BC list, did not do so with regard to Kapus,’’ Muddukrishnama said adding that the same Congress and YSRCP leaders now are shedding crocodile tears for Kapus.
The TDP after coming back to power set up the Kapu Corporation with an allocation of Rs 1000 crores fund and also provided financial assistance to students of Kapu community for studying abroad and coaching for civil service examinations.
Praising Mudragada as a seasoned leader, Mudhukrishnama appealed to him to give up his protest and to help TDP as it is sincerely striving for the betterment of his community so as not to give scope to the vested interests like YSRCP which is keen on exploiting the situation than for the welfare of Kapus.
In a separate media conference, local MLA M Suguna along with TDP leaders including District President G Srinivasulu here on Saturday claimed that it was the TDP which gave due representation to Kapus in the government.
Suguna and Srinivasulu went on giving a list of people belonging to the Kapu community including three ministers holding key portfolios like P Narayna acting as the In charge of the CRDA and municipal administration.
Two MLAs in Tirupati and Chittoor districts belonging to the Balija community have occupied important positions. The TTD Chairman is also from the same community.
They also appealed to Mudragada to give up his fast in the interests of Kapus and criticised YSRCP and its supremo Jaganmohan Reddy for instigating the Kapus for his selfish ends. “It was the TDP which all along remained a trustworthy friend of Kapus,’’ they averred.
TDP State Secretary G Narasimha Yadav, senior leader Sura Sudhakar Reddy and others were also present.
