Vijayawada: In his maiden speech at the new capital here on Tuesday, the Leader of Opposition and YSRCP president, Y S Jaganmohan Reddy called upon the rank and file of the party to expose the failures of the TDP government.

Addressing the extended general body meeting of the party here, Jaganmohan Reddy alleged that the TDP supremo and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu failed to fulfil the election promises.

  • Accuses Chief Minister of betraying people
  • Party to undertake door-to- door campaign from July to December

He recalled that Naidu promised total loan waiver for farmers, weavers and self-help groups, job for every family and unemployment stipend for youth, besides other things. Jagan regretted that the farmers and the SHG women have become defaulters with the banks and thus lost the opportunity to get second loans.

“People are losing confidence in democracy and politicians. They will throw slippers and brooms at politicians, if they continue to betray like Naidu. Why him, people will react in the same way if I also betray them,” he quipped. The YSRCP leader felt that the politicians should restrain from making false and unrealistic promises. “If allowed, Naidu will promise a car and an aero plane for every house in the next elections,” he mocked.

Jagan alleged that Naidu paid Rs 30 crore each for the 19 legislators, who had defected from YSRCP. Cautioning the police against serving the Chief Minister, he said, “Naidu is not paying your salaries.

He is not going to be in power for many years. You will have to face music, if you fail to correct yourself and be responsible to the people.”

He wanted the rank and file of the party to go to the people for the next six months and expose the failures of TDP government.
