Eluru: Mayor Sheikh Noorjahan called upon the parents to admit their children in Government schools. She said that quality education and basic infrastructure are being provided in the Government schools to help the students compete with the private and corporate schools. The Mayor visited Municipal Corporation Special Primary School at Sekhar Street in Powerpet area and handed over 26 benches and 20-litre water cans to the school on Tuesday.
Eluru Rotary Club donated the material. Speaking on the occasion, the Mayor said the educational standards had improved in Government schools and requested the philanthropists to liberally donate benches, textbooks, notebooks and uniform to the schools. She distributed the uniform and books to the students in the school.
Municipal Commissioner Y Sai Srikanth , Deputy Mayor Ramachandra Kishore, corporators Arnepalli Himagiri Apparao, D Sirisha Prasad, Rotary Club president G Lalitha, secretary A Narasimham, chartered accountant K Somasundara Sai, Municipal Schools Deputy Insepctor A T Sundara Rao and School Superintendent G Raghavulu participated in the programme.
