Vizianagaram: The district education department cracking the whip on unrecognised schools. As part of it, the education officers have formed teams and conducting raids on schools and seizing them. So far they have taken action against 20 schools in Vizianagaram town.

It is learnt that the management of the schools are getting the registration number and running the institutions though they did not have play ground, qualified staff, lab, library and basic infrastructure.

But this year, the education department was implementing strict rules to ensure only schools which have recognition will function.

In-charge DEO K Lingeswara Reddy has formed six teams comprising mandal education officers and conducted raids across the district and identified that 19 schools did not have government recognition.

Later, the teams announced the names of the schools- which did not have recognition- Alpha School, Prasanna Primary School, Pratibha School, Gurudatta, Ravi School and some other institutions.

The teams seized the schools and slapped notices on the managements. Later, the In-charge DEO told that they won’t allow any school to run without recognition and proper infrastructure. He appealed the parents not to admit their children in those schools.

The raids created a panic among the private school managements. Hence, they fled the institutions after communicating with each other. After learning about the raids, some schools have announced holidays and closed the institution before the arrival of the officers.
