Vijayawada: Minister for Water Resources Devineni Umamaheswara Rao has said Godavari flood water will be diverted to Krishna river by July by completing Polavaram right main canal works.

He said the government has been making efforts to make agriculture profitable.
Launching Yeruvaka Pournami programme at Gollapudi village on Monday, the Minister said the State government had been implementing several welfare programmes for the benefit of farmers.

He said the government had been organising the Yeruvaka programme throughout the State to prepare farmers for kharif season. He said soil testing conducted in 25,000 acres in Krishna district and soil health cards were distributed to farmers.

Collector Babu A said that fertilisers and seeds were ready for kharif season. He said for the first time in the country, fertiliser distribution would be linked with Aadhaar card in the district.

The agricultural and allied departments organised an exhibition of agricultural instruments.
Joint Director of Agriculture U Narasimha Rao, deputy director M CH Balu Naik and others were present.
