​Visakhapatnam: Superintendent of Police (rural) Rahul Dev Sharma asked his officials to prepare ground to slap PD Act against hardcore ganja smugglers at the periodical crime review meeting held here on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, he said surveillance should be stepped up against these smugglers and the illegal trade should be put to an end.

Regarding general crime, the Superintendent of Police said the police personnel should keep an eye on the hard core criminals, particularly those involving in land grabbing activities in the rural district.

Similarly senior officials should look into the long pending cases division wise and disposed them of as early as possible.
Before the meeting, all the officials observed a two-minute silence as a mark of respect to ASP M Sasi Kumar who died recently.

The Superintendent of Police gave away a cheque for Rs 2.26 lakh to the family members of traffic home guard Saripalle Rama Rao who died recently. He also gave a cheque for Rs 15,000 to the family members of home guard I Varalakshmi who died in Chodavaram.
