Babu relaxes shifting deadline
Even as the employees are reaching the new capital as per the deadline and ready to occupy the temporary secretariat building, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, had reportedly told them to go slow as the buildings are not ready yet.

The six blocks of the temporary secretariat are yet to be completed. While the first and sixth blocks have been allocated to the Chief Minister and the Assembly respectively, the Secretariat employees were asked to occupy the remaining four blocks.
Officials have directed the constructors to speed up the work on the four blocks so as to keep them ready for occupation by July end, while leaving the first and sixth blocks for the time being.
Accordingly, the workers have moved on to these blocks from Saturday to complete the finishing works for the ground and first floor of these buildings. While the finishing work, including partition was done for the first floor, the workers are now busy putting up plywood walls and partitions in the second floor.
Workers are busy laying approach roads for these buildings besides making connecting roads from one block to the other. Drinking water, drainage and electrical works are also being executed in full speed to meet the deadline.
The Chief Minister, who had visited the capital villages on Saturday to lay foundation stone for the speed access road and inaugurate Anna Canteens, collected information from the officials about the progress of the work on the secretariat.
As the officials have briefed him about the incomplete work, the Chief Minister had reportedly told them to slowdown the shifting process. The officials have informed the Chief Minister that the two floors of the four blocks would be ready for occupation with basic facilities by the middle of July.
Accordingly, the Chief Minister had told them to shift the Secretariat sections as the space is ready for occupation. Meanwhile, Heads of Departments are reaching to Vijayawada and Guntur cities. The HoDs have already started reaching to the new capital from Friday evening, while remaining are set to come by end of this week.
The Ministers connected to the respective departments are leading the HoDs to settle down in the new capital. While the irrigation, marketing, agriculture and other couple of HoDs have settled down in Guntur, technical education, panchayat raj, rural development, transport, roads and buildings departments have opted for Vijayawada.
