Ongole: The Brahmin Welfare Corporation (BWC) will offer loans to the unemployed Brahmin youth and small scale industries up to Rs 1 crore, said corporation chairman IYR Krishna Rao.

He conducted a review meeting in Ongole on Wednesday and asked the officials to give wide publicity to the schemes introduced by the corporation.

Krishna Rao said that the government has sanctioned Rs 65 crore for the welfare of Brahmins in 2016-17. He said the Brahmin Corporation is helping the Brahmin students who came from families whose annual income is less than Rs 3 lakh.

Under Bharati Vidya scheme, the students from first class to PG are eligible for assistance from Rs 5,000 to 35,000. An assistance of Rs 1.2 lakh is being provided for students pursuing studies abroad. Under the Dronacharya scheme, unemployed Brahmin youth would be provided skill development training.

Under the Chanakya scheme, the unemployed youth will be given one time financial help up to Rs 1.5 lakh. Young entrepreneurs would be given an assistance of Rs. 1.5 lakh to Rs 3 lakh while passionate entrepreneurs would be provided from Rs 3 lakh to Rs 10 lakh as loan.
