Atmakur: Responding to The Hans India reports on the slow pace of the Krishna Pushkaralu works, Collector Challa Vijay Mohan on Friday warned to make the officials concerned to run for their lives in expediting the works. The Collector said he would take up inspection twice a week.

After inspecting the Sangame­swaram Krishna Pushakaralu ghats, the Collector directed that 80 per cent of the work should be completed by July 15.

With only 40 days left for the pushkaralu to be launched, he took up the inspection having realised that the works costing crores can’t be completed by the deadline.

During the inspection, officials of the Panchayati Raj, Roads & Buildings, Irrigation and Endowments departments pretended to be speeding up the work.

Following the stoppage of the 600 metre road near Kapileswaram by the Forest department, the Collector lost his cool. He pulled up the Ranger asking how he could take such decisions. Vijay Mohan said he would take up the issue with the Chief Minister.

Irrigation SE Chandrasekar Rao explained to the Collector the progress of repair works being taken up for the new and old pushkar ghats.

He praised Endowments Deputy Commissioner Gayatri Devi and EE Srinivasulu for their work in rebuildingtemples. He directed officials of six departments to conduct inspection of the pushkaralu works, while warning that none would be spared if they commit irregularities.
