Tirupati: Nagari Municipal Chairperson KJ Santhi Kumar, who was undergoing treatment in SVRR Government Hospital here, was shifted to Apollo Hospital in Chennai, for better treatment, on Monday.

Santhi belonging to YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) was injured after she was attacked allegedly by TDP activists while she was in Nagari police station, on Sunday.

Santhi went to the police station to file a complaint against TDP activists, who prevented her from attending a function, held in a ward for distribution of Ramzan Tohfa kits to the members of Muslim community in Nagari town, 55 km from here on Sunday forced her to return.

This led to a clash between TDP and YSRCP activists after which Santhi went to police station to lodge complaint on the alleged attack on her in the ward function. She was attacked and kicked when she was waiting in the police station along with some of party municipal councillors by a group of people, injuring her.

She was brought to SVRR Hospital in Tirupati on Sunday. Meanwhile, YSRCP senior leader and Punganur MLA P Ramachandra Reddy visited SVRR Hospital to enquire the condition of Santhi before she was being taken to Chennai on
Monday.
