They are demanding for construction of three subways at Krishnalanka and Ranigarithota areas. The residents Krishnalanka and Ranigarithota formed as a committee under the banner of ‘Krishna parivahaka prantha nivaasitula parirakhana committee’ and made representations to NH authorities several occasions.

According to BJP city president Dasam Umamheswara Rao, the NH-9 authoritis did not heed the woes of victims in spite of submitting many representations.

The subways and approach roads were demolished by highway authorities to facilitate Highway extension works. It became difficult to the movements of people in Krishnalanka area to enter into the city. The inhabitants are demanding for three subways at Bandar Lakulu, American hospital and Veterinary hospital.

But either the National Highway Authority or the State government did not pay heed on the appeals made by the people.
The Highway authority had built only one subway which was insufficient to cater the needs of about 1.4 lakh people. On other hand, all ways connecting NH9 were closed in the area.

In this back drop, BJP activists, Vasa Palla Raju, Thota Sivanagewara Rao, Putla Ramana, Pydi Narayanaswamy and five others got tonsured to register their protest. Former MLA and BJP leader Vellampalli Srinivasa Rao and others participated in the
programme.
