Nellore: District administration has organised a workshop for officials at Krishnapatnam Port premises on Saturday as part of Atmagowravam programme for implementing Swachh Bharat mission. District Collector M Janaki formally launched the programme. She stressed on the need of every household in the district having an individual toilet by end of this year. She gave a call to port officials to create awareness among rural population on ill-effects of open defecation and hygienic conditions by constructing a septic tank.
The Collector said that people in remote villages are not utilising thousands of toilets because of misconceptions and lack of awareness. Tahsildars, MPDOs and other senior officials participated in the workshop. Gudur Sub-Collector PS Girisha, ZP CEO B Ramireddy, port officials and others were present.
