Foundation stone laid for Octopus base camp at Tirumala

The TTD EO along with DGP J V Ramudu took part in the Bhoomi Puja ceremony for the new Octopus base camp coming up in Tirumala on Monday.

Speaking to press persons, the EO said considering the importance of the safety of the Tirumala temple and its pilgrims, the State government is providing Octopus security to TTD.

The TTD has allotted 1.6 acres of land for the construction of permanent building to house Octopus office and an initial grant of Rs 5 crore was sanctioned towards the structure.

Later, the DGP thanked the State government and the TTD for the elaborate arrangements made towards the construction of Octopus building in Tirumala.

Earlier, the DGP accompanied by his wife offered prayers to Lord Venkateswara. He was accorded traditional welcome on his arrival at the main entrance of the shrine by the temple priests and officials led by TTD EO Dr Sambasiva Rao. After Darshan, the State police chief was blessed by Veda pundits while EO presented him Prasadam.

DIG J Prabhakar Rao, Octopus Additional DG Surendra Babu, temple officials and others were present on the occasion.
