On Thursday alone, 50 registrations took place in the office. On receipt of information, ACB sleuths led by DSP K Rajendra raided the office. They found Joint Sub-Registrar K Vijayamani with cash disproportionate to the known sources of her income and seized it. 

Eluru: The sleuths of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) raided district registrar office here on Thursday and seized Rs 15 lakh and some valuable documents.

It may be mentioned here that the number of registrations was high in the last three days at the district registrar office. On Thursday alone, 50 registrations took place in the office.

On receipt of information, ACB sleuths led by DSP K Rajendra raided the office. They found Joint Sub-Registrar K Vijayamani with cash disproportionate to the known sources of her income and seized it.

The ACB sleuths also seized cash and documents from the possession of document writers Naidu and Uma. While the checks were going on, the registrar office personnel including Joint Sub-Registrar K Vijayamani escaped from the office and stashed some cash in their vehicles parked in the compound.

On noticing it, the ACB sleuths checked the vehicles and seized the cash. ACB CI UJ Wilson and other officials participated in the raids.

On knowing about the ACB raids, Stamps and Registration DIG Lakshminarayana Reddy reached the district registrar office and said that stern action would be taken against the Joint Sub-Registrar for indulging in dishonest activities.
