Ganja worth `3.5L seized; 3 arrested
Excise officials seized 120 kilograms of ganja and arrested three persons at a tollgate on national highway near Kalaparru village on Wednesday.
Eluru: Excise officials seized 120 kilograms of ganja and arrested three persons at a tollgate on national highway near Kalaparru village on Wednesday.
B Srilatha, Assistant Commissioner of Excise told mediapersons that the Eluru Circle Inspector Kalyan Chakravarthy had conducted checks on national highway to curb the transport of ganja and other narcotics.
She said that they had information that some people were smuggling ganja from Narsipatnam, Anakapalle areas in Visakhapatnam district to Hyderabad.
The officials found 120 kg ganja in a car. They also took all the three youth in the car, Baliki Tataji of Vadipaki village, Gadi Srinu of Bayyalapudi village, Sira Jallibabu of Buchayyapeta in Visakhapatnam district into custody.
Srilatha added that the seized ganja was worth of Rs 3.50 lakh. She said that the excise officials would curb the smuggling of ganja and other narcotics in the district.
