Rajamahendravaram: Rajamahendravaram urban MLA Dr Akula Satyannarayana stressed the need for planting saplings to conserve the environment.

He put onus on everyone to plant saplings to control pollution. He, along with Rajamahendravaram rural MLA Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary, MLC Adireddi Appa rao, Mayor Pantam Rajani Sesha Sai and Municipal Commissioner V Vijayarama Raju planted saplings at DM&H School in Rajamahendravaram on Friday as part of Vanam-Manam programme.

Speaking on the occasion, Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary said that people should be a part of Vanam-Manam programme in planting saplings in rural as well as in urban areas.

While highlighting the need for plantation, irrespective of age, he said that the government was keen on enhancing the forest area in the State from the existing 32perecent.

Stating that there is a great danger for life on the planet due to pollution, he made it clear that planting trees is the only way to overcome pollution problems.

He called for planting of saplings in every house. MLC Adireddi Appa Rao said that water and air are very important in life and these two elements were being polluted and enhancement of greenery is the only way to prevent pollution.

Pantam Rajani Sesha Sai who presided over the meeting said that due to the increase in population, the pollution is increasing drastically. She did also mention that many people are getting ill because of changes in the weather and planting of saplings s the only way to bring balance in the environment.
