Visakhapatnam: Collector Praveen Kumar has directed officials to complete Smart Pulse survey by August 15. Launched on July 8, the enumerators could complete only 16 percent so far. Upset with the low percentage, the Collector said since the technical problems have been sorted, the survey could be completed at a faster pace. Regarding rural areas, he asked the enumerators to start survey from 6 am and inform the households one day in advance on the documents needed to be shown.

The Collector, in the video conference held with RDOs, MROS and MPDOs on Monday, warned of stern action if the enumerators were found negligent. Of 1,229 surveyors, some of them were not logging, he said. However, the enumerators regretted the arrangements done for the survey. Not only in the rural areas due to the poor Internet connectivity, technical snags in the tablets and iris camera failures are inordinately delaying the survey.

As part of the Smart Pulse survey, the State government intends to collect details including caste, religion, region and socio-economic status of 1.48 crore households in the State.

The staff deployed as enumerators were spending one and a half hours to upload a four-member family data. With this, the staff expressed regret to complete the task in the given time frame. The revenue divisional officers were given responsibility to monitor the survey. The district has been divided into rural and urban areas. In urban areas, there are 1,159 blocks and in rural areas, there are 1,420 blocks.
