Differently-abled man climbs cell tower for house sites
Vexed with the officials’ apathy in providing house sites, a differently-abled person, Madhavan, who is also the district secretary of PPIV (Pratyeka Prathibhavanthula Ikya Vedika), climbed a cell tower here on Monday.
Tirupati: Vexed with the officials’ apathy in providing house sites, a differently-abled person, Madhavan, who is also the district secretary of PPIV (Pratyeka Prathibhavanthula Ikya Vedika), climbed a cell tower here on Monday.
PPIV has been demanding the authorities to allot house sites to the eligible 900 differently-abled persons for the last seven years. But, there has been no response from the officials. As the authorities failed to move on the issue despite protests including dharnas, rasta rokos, relay hunger strike and representations to the Collector and tahasildar, Madhavanresorted to the risky protest. in Navabpeta area in the city, to achieve his demand.
Other members of the association reached the locality after coming to know about Madhavan’s protest. At last, local MLA M Suguna intervened and spoke to Madhavan over mobile phone and convinced him to withdraw his protest. She assured him that house sites would be provided to the differently-abled in Karakmabadi area.
Following the assurance, Madhavan got down from the cell tower, ending the three-hour long high drama.
