Ensure quality education, Sumita tells AU officials

Visakhapatnam: Principal Secretary, Higher Education, Sumita Dawra, has advised the Andhra University administration to work towards ensuring quality teaching and research by the faculty and research scholars to compete with the international universities.

Addressing a review meeting on Quality Education and Research in Universities in Andhra University here on Monday, Sumita said that the State government is very keen on maintaining high academic standards in Universities. She said that the teachers and research scholars should update their knowledge and communication skills. She also said that the State Universities should have international academic and research collaborations with universities and industries of repute. The teachers and research scholars should work with responsibility and accountability.

Vice-Chancellor Prof G Nageswara Rao said that the Andhra University has been taking measures to maintain high academic standards by imparting quality education to the students. He said that more emphasis would be given to communication and soft skills to make students employable.

Rector Prof E A Narayana, registrar Prof V Umamaheswara Rao, Prof P S Avadhani, Prof C V Raman, Prof Gayatri Devi, Prof D S Prakasa Rao, Prof C Ratnam and Prof V Vallikumari were present.
