Tadepalligudem: Endowments Minister Pydikondala Manikyala Rao said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was trying to develop Andhra Pradesh as a special State.The Minister was participating as the chief guest at an awareness meeting on the two-year rule of NDA government and Central schemes, organised by Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting held at Rice Millers’ Association hall here on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister stated that the Centre had concentrated on the development of Andhra Pradesh. He said as part of this the Centre had announced Polavaram as national project and merged seven mandals in East and West Godavari districts after the State’s bifurcation. These efforts have enabled the State government to supply water to Krishna Delta farmers, he stated.

The Minister said that efforts were on to construct airports in Kadapa and Tadepalligudem. He also reminded the establishment of the prestigious institution NIT in Tadepalliugdem.

The Endowments Minister said that the Centre and State governments were trying to provide permanent accommodation to everyone by 2019.

The Centre introduced a scheme for the benefit of small vendors in the country. He called up on the beneficiaries to utilise the Central schemes for their development. He said under National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, the Centre is providing employment to labourers in the country.

Minister Manikyala Rao said that the Centre also concentrated on the development of tourism in the country. With the efforts of the Centre, tourism developed very well in India. He said the Centre also concentrated on controlling the mortality rate in the country.

Later, the Minister distributed prizes to the winning students in Essay writing and debating competitions. He also distributed prizes in well-baby show competition winners.

Chamber of Commerce president CHSN Murthy, Women's College principal JV Jayanthi Kumari and others participated in the programme.
