Visakhapatnam: Local MP Dr K Haribabu said his two years term was successful and satisfactory as many Central projects were envisaged for the district. Addressing a press conference here on Friday, the MP, however, found fault with the then UPA government that prepared Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act in which it was stated that the government will only look into the feasibility of setting up a separate railway zone for Andhra Pradesh.

Regarding Special Status, he said though it was not technically possible, but the BJP will do its best to get it in the interest of the State. Haribabu added that the Centre was determined to complete the construction of Polavaram project before 2018 and said both the Centre and State governments will share the expenditure in 90:10 ratio.

The MP further said that the implementation of Central government’s promises can be carried forward with the cooperation of the State government. Releasing a book on two years of his tenure as MP of Visakhapatnam and his achievements during the period, the MP said several project were envisaged during the last two years which include the Incubation Centre worth Rs 20 crore was opened at VUDA Complex.

a joint venture between STPI and VUDA, Indian Maritime University at Sabbavaram estimated to cost Rs 26 crore, Export Inspection Agency laboratory for which stone was laid by Nirmala Seetharaman at Gambheeram last year, physically challenged persons sports complex at Gambheeram, Society for Applied Microwave Electronic Engineering Research Centre worth Rs 90 crore, Rs 4,000 crore power project by NTPC at Achyutapuram for which land acquisition has been completed, Institute of Petroleum Education and Energy at Andhra University and MSME Park worth Rs 92 crore for which Union Minister Kalraj Misra laid the foundation.
