Vijayawada: The Centre's announcement of special package for Andhra Pradesh has drawn sharp reaction from the Opposition. The issue is likely to rock the Assembly session which is scheduled to begin from Thursday.

As the Union Minister for Finance Arun |Jaitely and Union Minister for Broadcasting M Venkaiah Naidu concluded the media conference, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu held parleys with the Minister available in the city.

He reviewed the situation. He has reportedly decided to announce the plan of action on Thursday. Meanwhile TDP MLA Bonda Umamaheswar Rao said there was nothing new in the announcement made by the Centre. It amounted to cheating the people of the State.

The Centre was meting out a raw deal to the State, he said. The TDP, he said, was totally disappointed over the announcement.

The YSRCP said the State government had compromised on the State interests for personal reasons. Party leader Ambati Rambabu said it was because of the pressure the party had exerted on State and Central government, the Union government had resorted to a high drama.

The Chief Minister under the pressure from the YSRCP was now demanding Special Category Status and he said "nothing short of Special Category Status will satisfy the people."

The Left parties and other organisations said that they would intensify the agitation for Special Category Status from Friday. A PCC President N Raghuveera Reddy said the Congress party would organise agitation from Thursday.
