Vijayawada: Former legislator and national presidium member of the Indian Society for Cultural Cooperation and Friendship (ISCUF) K Subba Raju has appealed to the Central government to develop the science centre in Vijayawada National Centre.

Subba Raju who had initiated the establishment of the science centre in the city as a legislator, met the Union Ministers for Science and Technology, Harsha Vardhan and Y S Chowdary and submitted a representation seeking upgradation and development of the science centre. He said that the science centre in Vijayawada was established as a small centre initially. However, with the city becoming part of the capital region, he wanted the government to upgrade it and develop it to suit to the educational and research needs of the people of the State.

The former legislator also appealed to the two Ministers to take initiatives to promote science education and research activities in the State with more focus on Vijayawada. He wanted the Central government to declare the local science center as national institute for promotion of science and technology.
