Visakhapatnam: Human Resource Development Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao revealed that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will soon lay foundation stone for the proposed Kapu Welfare Bhavan to be built near the Health City with an estimated cost of Rs five crore in an extent of two acres of land.

Addressing an awareness meeting organised at Anakapalli on Friday, the Minister reiterated that the government was committed to provide reservations for Kapu community without affecting the existing reservations for backward classes. He said as per the TDP’s election manifesto, the government was taking all steps for the socio-economic development of Kapus.

“Kapu Welfare Corporation was set up with an initial fund of Rs 1,000 crore. Aiming at to provide reservations for Kapus in a scientific way, the government has set up Justice Manjunathan Commission which is been touring districts to take stock of the socio-economic conditions of the community. Soon after receiving the Committee report and the completion of Smart Pulse Survey, the government will take all steps for doing justice to BCs,” he added.

Responding to the plea made by the Anakapalli MP Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao for sanctioning a Kapu Welfare Bhavan for Anakapalli, the Minister assured of all help from his side.

Kapu Corporation chairman Chalamalasetti Ramanujaya said that the Corporation has so far granted loans of Rs 850 crore to 50 lakh beneficiaries and extended financial help to 400 youth to study abroad besides imparting coaching for 500 candidates appearing for competitive exams like IAS and IPS.

Later, the Minister distributed loans worth Rs.5.02 crore to Kapu beneficiaries and among others, managing director of Kapu Corporation Amarendra, executive director T J S Murty, RDO Padmavathi, MLAs Bandaru Satyanarayana Murty, Peela Govinda Satyanarayana, Panchakarla Ramesh Babu, K S N S Raju, Vangalapudi Anitha and MLC P Chalapathi Rao were present.
