Vijayawada: City police conducted Open House programme at Armed Reserved (AR) police parade grounds on Monday to create awareness among the students on police department using weapons. A large number of students participated in the programme and came to know about working of weapons.

Police officers gave demonstration on use of weapons. Clues team, bomb squad, dog squad and other teams have demonstrated their skills. The youngsters curiously asked about working of AK 47, SLR and other weapons and the form of use. Police officers gave full details to the students and cautioned them be prudent with the weapons. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) GVG Ashok Kumar has explained the usage of different types of weapons. Later, students watched the dog show.

Speaking on the occasion, DCP Ashok Kumar said that city police wanted people friendly policing. DCP sought cooperation from people to maintain law and order and control thefts and other crimes in the city.

“Open House programme to students to create awareness on policing as well as weapons, he said. AR assistant commissioner of police (ACP) Koteswara Rao, City Training Center (CTC) ACP K Srinivasa Rao and reserve inspector (RI) Azamtulla and others took part in the event.
