Eluru: The Bhimavaram two-town police arrested a thief on Monday and recovered 70 sovereigns of gold ornaments. Narsapuram DSP G Poornachandra Rao told reporters at Bhimavaram two-town police station that Gadiraju Srinivasa Raju and Krishna Kumari went to their relative’s house in Sivaraopeta on Saturday and asked driver Daram Mohan Rao to pick her up in the evening.
However, the driver after dropping her in his relative’s house went to the latter’s house in Adarsh Nagar and opened the doors with keys that were stolen earlier. Later he opened the chest in the house and stole 70 sovereigns of gold ornaments along with Rs 50,000 cash.
Srinivasa Raju’s wife Krishna Kumari on Saturday evening returned to their house along with her brother Jagapatiraju. When she opened the almirah, she found the cash and gold missing. She complained the two-town police stating that about 70 sovereigns of gold ornaments and Rs 50,000 were stolen from her house.
