Srikakulam: District collector P Lakshmi Narasimham conducted a mock-drill on Tuesday at Srikakulam to assess the preparedness of the officials and staff of all departments for combating the first cyclonic storm of October 2016 in the Bay of Bengal, expected to hit the coastal districts on the 28th of this month.

The collector asked the officials of Revenue, Police, Irrigation, Civil Supplies, Medical and Fire departments to be fully equipped with all necessary equipment and resources to face any contingencies. A power point presentation was given by Red Cross representatives on the occasion on how to shift people to places of safety and supply food items to them.

Lakshmi Narasimham asked the officials concerned to create awareness among people residing in the villages adjacent to the Nagavalli and Vamsadhara rivers on cyclones, their impact and precautionary measures to be taken. He instructed civil supplies officials to store all essential goods at the nearest available points for distribution, if necessary.
