Tirupati: The CPM activists led by party district secretary K Kumar Reddy observed the completion of 100 years of great October Revolution here on Monday. Marking the occasion, the activists paid homage to those died in the revolution after hoisting the red flag in party office while the member of Praja Natya Mandali troupe rendered select songs hailing the revolution which ushered in a new era ending the exploitation of the toiling masses.

Speaking to the occasion, Kumar Reddy said that the October Revolution is one of the historic event that had far reaching consequences and most inspiration one in the 20th century by heralding the world towards socialism to end the exploitation of the masses. Socialism is nothing but ensuring food security, work, health and shelter to all, he said, adding that it is the only way for the oppressed classes to improve their living standards and also to come up socially, economically and politically. CPM leaders Yadagiri, Jayachandra, Chandrasekhar Reddy, Aruna and others were present.

Meanwhile, the CITU district unit also observed the 100 years of October Revolution here on Monday. Speaking on the occasion, CITU district general secretary K Murali said that the October Revolution which saw the end of exploitative forces in Russia also led to many countries like China.

The inspiration of October Revolution is much needed now in the context of Narendra Modi and Chandrababu Naidu governments turning more and more pro-capitalist and anti-people, he said. Reminding that Andhra Pradesh which was once known for its militant labour movement, he sought all the likeminded socialist and secular outfits including political parties, trade unions come together and dislodge the anti-people government at the Centre and in the State. CITU leaders K Nagarani, Sujani, Ganga Raju and others were present.
