Tirupati: Prof V Muralidhara Sharma has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha (RSVP) at Tirupati.

He will hold office for a period of five years from the date of taking over the charge as Vice-Chancellor as per the orders received from the Ministry of Human Resource Development. The post is lying vacant since one year after the end of the tenure of Harekrishna Satapathy, last year.

Sharma, who started his career as lecturer in education worked in Kendriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha at Lucknow and Sringeri before he joined Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha, Tirupati as Reader and elevated as professor in Education department in 2004.

He has guided more than 35 M Phil and PhD scholars, authored more than 20 books and to his credit handled 4 projects on various subjects in Sanskrit field.
