Eluru: K Dhanalakshmi, Secretary, CITU Andhra Pradesh unit, has lamented that the agriculture sector is plunged into deep crisis due to faulty policies adopted by the State and Central governments.

Addressing a seminar on the ‘crisis of agriculture’ organised by CITU, AP Rythu Sangham, AP Koulu Rythu Sangham (APKRS) and Vyavasaya Karmika Sangham here at UTF building on Thursday, Dhanalakshmi accused the governments at the Centre and State of neglecting the agriculture sector although 80 percent in the country was dependent on it. Coupled with this, anti-farmers’ policies pursued by the ruling parties at the Centre and the State have left the agriculture sector in a frail. As a result, the hapless farming community resorted to suicides, she lambasted.

She gave a call to the workers and farmers to fight in unison against the anti-farmer policies adopted by the governments. Further, she demanded the government to save the agriculture sector that is in doldrums. CITU district committee president K Raja Rama Mohan Roy presided over the seminar. AP Vyaasaya Karmika Sangham district leaders Gorla Ramakrishna, Jakkamsetty Satyanarayana, APKRS district secretary K Srinivas and others also spoke at the seminar.
