development (USAID) is going to
prepare a comprehensive report on ‘Energy Efficiency Opportunity Study in the State’ within a fortnight to the government.
USAID has declared that AP is the only State in the country that has been selected for this study.
The study aims at assessing the energy efficiency opportunities for different energy consuming segments / categories and a tool that will identify and characterise the largest, most cost- effective and feasible energy efficiency measures and programmes for the State.
ICF International under the aegis of USAID in association with AP State Energy Conservation Mission (APSECM), Department of Energy I&I, Government of AP conducted a workshop on the subject matter, here on Tuesday, to elicit the views from the officials of AP discoms, Municipal Administration and Panchayati Raj departments.
While delivering the keynote address during the workshop, K Ranganatham, Advisor, Dept of Energy I&I said that the energy efficiency measures implemented by the State govt.
for the past two and half years have started yielding the results in domestic sector and municipal sector.
Each and every household in the state is saving around 150 Units of electricity per annum on account of two LED Bulbs that were distributed and all Urban Local Bodies (municipalities and municipal corporations) in the State are saving around 40-45 per cent in streetlights consumption due to retrofitting of the existing conventional street lights.
