Women leaders from BJP, Congress, Aam Aadmi Party and other parties have demanded implementation of reservation for women.
The Andhra Pradesh government is organising the three-day National Parliament in which several hundred women leaders, social activists, academicians, corporate sector representatives and others participated and addressed 10,000 women students.
Aam Aadmi Party MLA Alkha Lamba, representing Chandini Chow, Delhi, addressing the gathering and demanded that the BJP government should immediately introduce the bill related to implementation of 33 per cent reservation to women in Lok Sabha.
She said that nearly three years passed since the BJP was voted to power. It has absolute majority to pass the bill but BJP leaders like Narendra Modi and M Venkaiah Naidu were voluntarily delaying the bill, she alleged.
She pointed out that the bill was already passed in Rajya Sabha during the UPA rule but the present BJP government was turning a blind eye to the Women Reservation Bill.
Santosh Yadav, Deputy Speaker of Haryana Assembly, demanded that the NDA government should introduce the women reservation bill in Lok Sabha immediately.
She said women were marching ahead in many fields like education, science, software, politics and they would get more support if the Union government implements 33 per cent reservation in Lok Sabha. She said the rulers must have strong commitment for the implementation of reservation to women folk.
Former Minister and Congress leader of Telangana State D K Aruna flayed the BJP government for its failure to implement 33 per cent reservation to women in spite of having absolute majority in Lok Sabha.
She said girls are ahead of boys in the field of education and implementation of reservation will be more useful to the women.
The first Indian commando trainer Seema Rao has narrated her personal experiences on how women face problems in the society from eve-teasers and anti-social elements and called upon the girls to face the problems with courage.
She said being a house wife and commando trainer it would be difficult to balance the duties due to time constraints and professional problems. She has asked the girls to identify their hidden talents and hone their skills for their development.
Seema Rao said she adopted a girl child and made her as Deputy Director in the institution run by the family. Poddar Foundation Managing Trustee Dr Prakriti Poddar has tried to give inspiration to the girl students, explaining the need for gaining knowledge and enhancing self-confidence.
