Participating as chief guest in the inaugural session of international workshop on 'Intellectual property, commercial and emerging laws' organised jointly by Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO), Bezwada Bar Association and Economic Development board (EDB) in Vijayawada on Friday, the Chief Minister claimed that the State was ahead in using technology. He gave a presentation of e-Pragati, real time governance, internet of things, cyber security and AP Fibergrid.

Justice Ramesh Ranganathan, acting Chief Justice of High Court of Judicature for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh said that judiciary should gear up to face challenges encounter in the present development scenario.

Delhi High Court Chief Justice G Rohini said commercial divisions should be constituted with the changing situation. Justice V Ramasubramanian, judge of High Court, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana predicted that Vijayawada would emerge as economical capital of India soon.

Akira Katase, judge of Intellectual property High Court of Japan explained on the judicial system in Japan and IP related cases. He explained on IP related civil appeal cases, technology-related actions including patent rights cases.

Supreme Court judge justice NV Ramana appealed to Chief Minister to establish a judicial academy in the State to help legal research besides empowering lawyers of the region. He said Visakhapatnam stands in second place in cyber crime after Bangalore.

Guest of honour Justice Madan B Lokur, judge of Supreme Court said there was a need to keep up with the time. He said commercial courts were present in Delhi and Mumbai and such commercial courts should be established in Andhra Pradesh.

He stressed the need to protect intellectual property rights. “We need to look at judicial reforms in India,” he stated.
