Urges girl students to avail the guidance of USIEF to pursue higher education in the US

Hadda was interacting with the students and faculty of Sri Padmavathi Mahila Visvavidyalayam (SPMVV) here on Wednesday during her brief visit to the campus.The US Consul General said that 1.66 lakh Indian students were studying in the US which has 4,500 good educational institutions.

“Women can come forward and avail guidance from the United States-India Educational Foundation (USIEF) in pursuing higher education in the US. The quality of higher education is very high and holistic there,” she said. Stating that Indians occupy second place in terms of number of foreign students after China and among Indians, majority were Telugus, Hadda said the number was fast growing.

She reminded that Microsoft chief Satya Nadella was also from Hyderabad. She said they were looking for more collaboration with India while citing former president Barack Obama’s statement that Indo-US partnership would become more important in the 21st century. She was all praise for the SPMVV campus, saying her first impression was that there was tremendous leadership, contacts, entrepreneurship on the campus.

University vice-chancellor Prof V Durga Bhavani explained various developmental projects in the university. The Consul General was felicitated on the occasion by the university officials.Rector Prof V Uma said that they were looking for the participation from their university in the Hackathon to be conducted exclusively for women, at Visakhapatnam in August 2017.
Saying that the Public Affairs Officer in the US Consulate in Hyderabad, Gabriel Hons-Oliver, was having many research projects, the rector expressed the hope that the university could collaborate with him on areas of women trafficking, entrepreneurship and domestic violence as part of inter disciplinary research. Registrar Prof DM Mamatha, deans, faculty and students participated.
