GITAM is a benchmark for not only providing value-based education, but also in the fulfillment of society needs like establishment of hospitals to serve the poor, said Minister for Panchayat Raj Nara Lokesh.He addressed GITAM University students and faculty after inaugurating GITAM Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (GIMSR) on the university premises here on Saturday.
Visakhapatnam: GITAM is a benchmark for not only providing value-based education, but also in the fulfillment of society needs like establishment of hospitals to serve the poor, said Minister for Panchayat Raj Nara Lokesh.He addressed GITAM University students and faculty after inaugurating GITAM Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (GIMSR) on the university premises here on Saturday.
The Minister disclosed that the state government is striving to develop IT industry in Visakhapatam and manufacturing industries in Rayalaseema area. He assured the youth that the government will provide one lakh jobs in the IT sector in the ensuing two years. Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas hoped that the GITAM will cater to the medical and health needs of the local people as a role model to other hospitals. He also appreciated the GITAM University for offering various schemes to serve the poor.
GITAM president Dr M V V S Murthi presided over the programme. Earlier, Lokesh distributed health cards and baby kits to beneficiaries.Deputy Chief Miniser N Chinnarajappa, Power Minister K Kala Venkata Rao, MLC P Chalapathi Rao, Andhra University Registrar Prof V Umamaheswara Rao, University Chancellor Prof Koneru Ramakrishna Rao, Vice Chancellor Prof M S Prasada Rao, GIMSR Hospital superintendent Dr S V Varalakshmi and GIMSR principal Dr S P Rao were also present.
The hospital management has launched complete health check-up scheme for senior citizens and Savithri Prasoothi Padhakam for pregnant women on the occasion of hospital inauguration.
