Tirupati: As a befitting tribute to saint poet Annamacharya, who composed 32,000 verses eulogizing Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala, the TTD will soon develop Unicode audio text compatibility in multi languages. On the occasion of the poet’s 609th birth anniversary, his literary texts are set to go hi-tech soon. The TTD has set up Annamacharya Project almost four decades ago to bring to light all the 32,000 Sankeertanas penned by the great saint poet. But, only over 14,892 Sankeertanas were brought to light with efforts of stalwarts like Sadhu Subrahmanya Sastry, Rallaplle Anantakrishna Sharma, Veturi Prabhakara Sastry and other great personalities.
Highlights:
- TTD to develop Unicode audio text compatibility in multi languages for 14,892 Sankeertanas
- A separate page and hyper links created in TTD official website for Sri Tallapaka Padasahityam
TTD All Project Special Officer N Mukteswar Rao said a separate page was created for Sri Tallapaka Padasahityam in TTD official website with hyper links which has the entire information with respect to the history, works, Sankeertanas etc. of not alone Annamacharya but his entire clan. All the 14,000 odd Sankeertanas were printed in the form of 29 books and kept on website in pdf format too. This has been designed as a one-stop approach site for researchers, students, music and literature lovers. About 50-60 scholars contributed the relevant literature for this site.
“Many literary experts and service organisations including Viswa Vyapta Annamayya Bhakta Brindam have done great contributions while the donors have come up with their largesse in upgrading the website,” he added. After developing a separate page for Tallapaka literature, the TTD has now uploaded 2,000 Sankeertanas of Annamacharya, Pedda Tirumalacharya and Chinna Tirumalacharya on website. The music lovers across the globe can hear or download these kritis free of cost, he said.
The IT wing of TTD and TCS are working on the upgradation of website to have multi language compatibility of these audio texts. In connection with Annamacharya 609th Jayanthi on May 11, Srinivasa Kalyanam will be performed in Tallapaka, the home turf of saint poet. In the evening, there will be special Annamayya Sankeertana programme at 108 feet statue of Annamacharya. Literary programmes will be held at Mahati Auditorium and Annamacharya Kalamandiram in Tirupati from May 11 to 17.
