Kakinada: With as many as 50 existing IT companies in and around the two cities Kakinada and Rajamahendravaram, the IT activity is poised for further development to other places in the district and to the neighbouring West Godavari. The STPI (Software Technology Parks of India) at East Godavari collectorate has been supervising the activity under its purview in both the Godavari districts.

The IT department of AP is also playing a key role in the development of the activity in these parts. The IT activity picked up momentum since STPI came in to existence in the year 2007 at East Godavari collectorate with the special interest shown by former union minister M. M. Pallam Raju. Some prominent companies like InfoTech, Cyient, Avineon, Prominere , V- Soft and other companies are starting their activity in and around Kakinada and some more are opting for Rajamahendravaram.
