Kurnool: The stage is set for the Sunday's Jala Chaitanya Sabha at Nandyal with the leaders of the Joint Action Committee holding various awareness camps in four districts of Rayalaseema region to mobilise at least two lakh people. The meeting seeks to press the government for construction of a weir at Siddeswaram, which they held as panacea to the water problems of the region. At the BC Bhavan in Kurnool on Saturday, the meeting's poster was released.
The JAC leaders are proposing to ensure voluntary participation of the people in the meeting as the leaders stressed that the denial of irrigation water to the parched lands of the region was due to man-made mistake, but not a calamity. The Rayalaseema Vidyavantula Vedika convener Arun called upon people to make the Sunday's public meeting a grand success with the same spirit of making the bhumi programme for a weir project at Siddeswaram.
