The Chodavaram police arrested a person and seized around 810 kgs of ganja, which would worth Rs 25 lakh, here at Gouripatnam area on Sunday late night. The arrested was identified as PM Naidu, a resident of Visakhapatnam agency.
Visakhapatnam: The Chodavaram police arrested a person and seized around 810 kgs of ganja, which would worth Rs 25 lakh, here at Gouripatnam area on Sunday late night. The arrested was identified as PM Naidu, a resident of Visakhapatnam agency. According to Chodavaram police, a team of police personnel were conducting regular checks near Gouripatnam. After they tried to stop two auto-rickshaws, which were heading towards checkpost, persons in the vehicles jumped out of the autorickshaws and ran away.
Police said that after they chased,one Naidu was nabbed, while others fled away. Police recovered 810 kgs of ganja, which was packed in 27 gunny bags and was shared in two auto-rickshaws. The police came to know that the ganja was procured from interior parts of Visakhapatnam agency and the smugglers were on their way to handover the ganja to some other persons on the district outskirts. A case has been registered in Chodavaram police station. Teams are on to nab other persons involved. Investigation is on.
