the then secretary K V Ramanachari had issued orders in May 1995 after getting the approval of Chief Minister NTR and accordingly, the NTR’s birthday function was organised across the state officially on May 28, 1995 which was his last birthday.
He said even in Hyderabad, too, the official function was held in Telugu Lalitha Kala Thoranam in the presence of NTR and Chandrababu Naidu where nine famous artistes were felicitated with cash prizes. Similarly, six noted artistes from each district were honoured district-wise functions held and many artistes and art lovers had hailed the government’s decision.
To declare the birth anniversary of a great personality, politician and an artiste like NTR, who should be given Bharata Ratna, irrespective party affiliations as an official function will be a real tribute to Telugu Kalamatalli and honour to all the artistes across the globe, he felt.
Veerabhadra Rao appealed to the Chief Minister to respect the last announcement made by NTR of constructing Cultural Centres on the lines of Ravindra Bharati at all the district headquarters besides revival of NTR birth anniversary as Kala Neerajana Dinotsav.
