4 burglars arrested, booty worth Rupees 50 lakh seized

Kurnool: Central Crime Station (CCS) police arrested four persons in connection with burglary and recovered from them booty of 30 kg of silver articles and 1.5 kg of gold ornaments all worth Rs 50 lakh. Addressing media at the city police commissioner office here on Thursday; Superintendent of Police Ake Ravi Krishna appreciated the police officials for apprehending the foursome involved in various thefts.

The arrested were identified as Shaik Shafi Ahmed (25), Abdul Munaf (30), Pinjari Sekshavali (26) and Syed Chand Basha (33). They were eking out living as carpenter, painter, drinking water cans supplier and a casual worker. Addicted to luxurious ways of living, they committed thefts at their work places.

Since 2014 to 2017 these accused were said to have burgled 30 kg of silver worth Rs12 lakh and 1.5kg of gold worth Rs.42 lakh. On receiving complaints from the people, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Shaik Sha Vali formed a team comprising of CCS DSP Hussain Peera, Kurnool DSP DV Ramana Murthy, Circle Inspector, Lakshmaiah, sub inspectors T Srinivasulu, V Ramesh Babu, S Ashok Kumar, Nayab Rasool and other staff took up the investigation.

On a tip off that the accused were trying to sell the stolen articles at a gold shop, the team laid a trap and apprehended them at Kurnool. Investigation is under way in securing the details of the shop owner and the third person, who helped the quartet. All the accused would be produced before the court for further action to be taken.
