Visakhapatnam: An awareness rally was taken out jointly by the Malaria wing of GVMC and the District Malaria department here at Gnanapuram area on Thursday to mark the launch of month-long national malaria eradication programme.
Before flagging off an awareness rally, GVMC chief medical officer Dr A Hemanth disclosed that there is every possibility of spreading diseases like malaria, dengue and chikungunya in the ensuing rainy season with the growth of mosquitoes.
He said if the people take preventive steps, such diseases could be controlled. The chief medical officer asked the public to completely cover the overhead water tanks or water vessels inside the house with proper lids and nowhere in or outside the house, rain water should not be choked as it causes mosquito menace.
