Kurnool: An alleged incident of plastic rice sale in the temple town of Srisailam created flutter on Monday. Taking advantage of pilgrims that throng the town to have a darshan of Lord Sri Mallikarjuna Swami and his consort Bramaranbhika Devi, some unscrupulous traders are reported to have been indulging in unethical practices.

According to sources, a grocery merchant at Srisailam was said to be selling plastic rice to the locals. The consumers who cooked the rice found them abnormally sticky and confronted the shop owner. On not finding his explanation satisfactory, they lodged a complaint with police.

When contacted, Srisailam SI Prasad, however, denied of any such complaint received by them. “Even so, we have conducted raids and had a thoroughly searched the shop but nothing was found,” he added.
