Amaravati: Tensions flared at Assembly gate, when police and Assembly staff refused the YSRC MLAs’ demand to inspect the building premises. The YSRC MLAs staged a protest at Assembly gate on Wednesday, citing poor quality of construction.They demanded entry for MLAs along with media for inspection of building to with the officials refused.

Miffed with the reply of police and Assembly staff, the MLAs raised slogans against the government. They blamed the government for poor quality of constructing of Interim Secretariat and Assembly. Accusing the TDP government of wasting public money, they sought to know how government would construct a world class capital, if this was the case.

YSR Congress MLAs A Ramakrishna Reddy, Meka Prathap Appa Rao, D Srinivasa Reddy, K Raghupathi, Rakshana Nidhi and Musthafa gathered at Assembly building. Ramakrishna Reddy requested the Assembly secretary to allow media along with legislators, which was rejected. “Public should know facts behind leakage. If the media is not allowed, how could the public know facts,” he said.

“Is this the quality of construction of a building which was supposed to be constructed with Rs 1,000 crore,” the questioned and alleged that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and municipal minister P Narayana misused funds. MLA Meka Prathapa Appa Rao said that soil in Amaravati area was not suitable for capital construction.

“Despite government having 32,000 acres own land at Katrenipadu near Nuzvid, it neglected the site for capital,” he stated. Echoing the same, Srinivasa Reddy sought to know why Srikrishna Committee report was ignored to select location for capital construction.
