Amaravati: Social welfare minister N Ananda Babu has announced that IIT coaching centre would be established in the limits of capital Amaravati for tribal students. He held a review meeting with tribal welfare residential association leaders at Secretariat in Velagapudi on Saturday.

The leaders brought the long pending issues to the notice of minister, who responded positively and agreed to resolve them immediately. The minister has agreed to promote as assistant secretary rank for the superintendents working in residential schools and ITDA schools. He also resolved the 12-year-long pending issue on promoting junior lecturers as college principals in the residential colleges. The minister agreed to promote school principals as URJC principals.

The meeting has decided to create three assistant posts at head office and one each at ITDA offices. The association leaders asked the minister to create a post of sports officer at residential head office for which, the minister responded positively. Ananda Babu said a committee would be appointed to review the irregularities held while giving promotions to the employees in 2016.

He said that proposals would be sent to government to provide equal pay scale for PD and PGT on par with PET and TGT employees. Tribal Welfare Gurukulam secretary Devara Vasu, deputy secretary Pratibha Bharati and association leaders were present.

Later, the minister has conducted enquiry on long pending cases pertaining to caste declaration and land transfer regularisation.
