Rail-over-bridge works to be expedited at Kondayyapalem

Kakinada: The long pending rail-over-bridge (RoB) at Kondayyapalem railway gate connecting Rama Rao Peta with Bhanugudi area (Sarada Maata temple junction) in Kakinada city would be a reality soon.

The ROB, which has been pending for the past decade connects MSN Charities at Yanam Road to Nagamalli Thota Junction at Pithapuram Road, is expected to ease the traffic flow on the existing ROBs at II Town and in the second one at Perraju Peta railway gate connecting RTC complex area and Kokila Restaurant Junction.

East Godavari R & B, SE, C S N Murthy said that the compensation to residents on both the sides of the road was paid as per the estimated loss to residents out of Rs 65 crore revised cost of the project. “On our part, we will have to extend the connecting RoB on both the sides from the railway part at an estimated cost of Rs 14 crore.

Of this total, we will get back 50 per cent of this investment from railways”, the SE clarified. The Kakinada civic body will take up approach roads on both sides of RoB, SE said.
